Most of the silverware pieces displayed here are family heirlooms from the early 1900s that once belonged to my paternal grandparents and uncle/aunt. They are mainly English Silver service which can be found in many an English-educated Peranakan (Straits Chinese) home for entertaining guests. The “piece de resistance” of my collection is a beautiful large silver kettle with a detachable stand in which is a round attachment for heating/warming the kettle. Others include trays, salvers, display containers, serving baskets, large bowl with cover, basin, tea service for creamer and sugar, bowls with stand, salt and pepper service with stand, coasters, teapot, coffee pot, water pitcher, water jugs, ice cooler, mug, small round dishes with stand, shell shaped dishes (some with covers), candlestick holder, decorative piece(purpose unknown) and a sugar spoon.
The last 4 items are purchases made years ago while overseas: 2 ice buckets from Thailand, an antique silver persimmon fruit covered box from Cambodia and a pair of serving spoons with decorative beads from South Africa.
Do enjoy viewing them. As I have very limited knowledge on silverware, any comments, especially on improving of their description, would be appreciated.
